Lorentz Transformation in Maxwell Equations for Slowly Moving Media

چکیده
We use the method of field decomposition, a widely used technique in relativistic magnetohydrodynamics, to study small velocity approximation (SVA) Lorentz transformation Maxwell equations for slowly moving media. The “deformed” derived using SVA lab frame can be put into conventional form medium’s co-moving frame. Our results show that up O(v/c) (v is speed medium and c light vacuum) essential derive these equations: time charge density must also change when transforming different frame, even SVA, not just position current density, as Galilean transformation. متن کاملLong-time Asymptotics for the Coupled Maxwell-lorentz Equations
We determine the long time behavior of solutions to the Maxwell-Lorentz equations, which describe a charge coupled to the electromagnetic eld and subject to external time-independent potentials. The stationary solutions have vanishing magnetic eld and a Coulomb type electrostatic eld centered at the points of the set Z at which the external force vanishes. We prove that solutions of nite energy...
متن کاملVon Neumann Stability Analysis of Finite Difference Schemes for Maxwell–Debye and Maxwell–Lorentz Equations
We address the stability study of finite difference schemes for Maxwell–Debye and Maxwell–Lorentz models. To this aim we selected the same schemes as those already studied by Petropoulos [6], who after having correctly defined characteristic polynomials associated to each scheme, merely computed its roots with a numerical algorithm. This implies having to specify values for the physical paramet...
متن کاملStability of FD-TD Schemes for Maxwell-Debye and Maxwell-Lorentz Equations
The stability of five finite difference–time domain (FD–TD) schemes coupling Maxwell equations to Debye or Lorentz models have been analyzed in [1], where numerical evidence for specific media have been used. We use von Neumann analysis to give necessary and sufficient stability conditions for these schemes for any medium, in accordance with the partial results of [1].
متن کاملOn the initial-value problem of the Maxwell-Lorentz equations
We consider the Maxwell-Lorentz equations, i.e., the equation of motion of a charged dust coupled to Maxwell’s equations, on an arbitrary general-relativistic spacetime. We decompose this system of equations into evolution equations and constraints, and we demonstrate that the evolution equations are strongly hyperbolic. This result guarantees that the initial-value problem of the Maxwell-Loren...
